Wintario Turns 50: New Game & A Chance to Win $1M for Free

To celebrate its 50th anniversary, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) is bringing back its very first game, Wintario, with a twist. The new limited-time game, called Wintario50, is part of a larger campaign to thank players and give back to the community, offering multiple chances to win prizes.

A New Take on a Classic Game

The original Wintario, which first launched in 1975, was a huge part of Ontario’s history, with live draws televised across the province and proceeds going to local communities. To honor this legacy, OLG is reintroducing the game in a new format. Wintario50 is a raffle-style game with a draw that took place on August 14, 2025. It offers a massive 800 guaranteed prizes, with a total of more than $5 million in winnings. These prizes range from $50 up to the top prize of $50,000. The game was available for a limited time, from June 24 to August 14, 2025, and tickets were sold for $5 for one play or $10 for three.

More Than Just Wintario50

The celebration goes beyond the Wintario50 game. OLG has also launched a free-to-enter “Welcome to Wintario” contest as another way to celebrate. This contest gives every Ontario resident a chance to win one of 51 prizes, including a grand prize of $1 million, plus 50 secondary prizes of $1,000 each. The contest is free to enter and runs from August 18 until October 19, 2025. This is OLG’s way of saying thank you for the past 50 years.

OLG has a long history of giving back to the province. Since 1975, the organization has generated an estimated $62 billion for the people of Ontario, which has been used to support important priorities like health care and amateur sports. The Wintario50 celebration, including both the paid game and the free contest, highlights how OLG’s profits are reinvested back into the province, benefiting everyone.
